Including beef in your recipes is essential unless you are a vegetarian. Beef is a rich source of iron, which is especially essential for your kid’s development. With the rise in iron deficiency among kids, it therefore becomes important that you choose recipes that contain ingredients which are rich in iron and potassium. Recipes like this easy beef stir fry is a wonderful combination of beef and seasonal vegetables. The recipe is highly nutritious and packed with vitamins from the vegetables.

Make sure that the beef is well cooked and the vegetables are cut in thin strips. You can choose to use vegetables that are in season and locally grown. This will ensure that your baby gets a complete diet that is free of pesticides etc.

Beef Stir Fry

Sesame oil – 1 tbsp

Crushed garlic – 1 clove

Ginger small bit shredded

Carrots cut in thin strips – 1

Baby sweet corn cut in quarters – 100 gms

Deseeded red and yellow bell peppers cut in thin strips – 1 cup

Beef stock – 150 ml

Beef fillet, cooked and cut into thin strips across the grain – 300 gms

Soy sauce – 2 tbsp

Dark brown sugar – 2 tbsp

Heat oil in a wok, add the garlic, ginger and vegetables and stir fry for a couple of minutes or till the vegetables wilt a bit. Now add the beef strips and stir in the flavors for 3-4 minutes. Add in the beef stock, soy sauce and sugar. Stir till the stock thickens and coats the vegetables and beef. Your beef stir fry is ready.

You can serve this with steamed rice or plain noodles. If your baby can handle extra flavors, you could add in a few drops of Tabasco sauce. We have avoided the use of cornflour to thicken the stock as most babies are averse to it. You could add a teaspoon of it to the stock if required.
